Course information: This is a 1/2 day training course for all persons using Spill Kits. This can be carried out at your site across the UK or at our training centres Aims of the Spill Kit Training Course: The course aims to ensure delegates are working towards compliance with The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002, and that they understand the purpose of spill kits as well as how they can prevent a spill from spreading further. Course Overview Consists of: A spill kit training course provides instruction on the proper use of spill kits to manage and clean up hazardous material spills, ensuring safety and environmental protection. The training covers identifying hazards, using personal protective equipment (PPE), containing spills, and safely disposing of contaminated materials. Both you and your employer have a responsibility to make sure that you’re safe at work, complying with the relevant regulations and guidelines related to spill response and hazardous materials management. You have a duty to follow their safety instructions, including the proper use of any protective equipment provided. Understand your responsibilities as an employee or employer in spill response. This is a core Health & Safety course designed for workers in all industries. In general, this course is suited to anyone who works when working with spill response. Spill Kit Training Course Contents: • The actions you need to take to deal with spills • Increasing awareness of potential liquid spills • Preventing spills • The 3 types of sorbents • Effective and safe use of spill control materials • Awareness of current pollutions regulations. • Safe disposal or sorbents and awareness of how the sorbents take on the properties of the liquid cleaned up • Individual responsibility and best practice • The simulation of an emergency spill The theory test is based on multiple choice questions of the training material that have been covered. Renewal- 3 Year renewal of programme Trained operator theory test followed by a practical test Grants Construction companies registered with the CITB levy can claim grants from the CITB for NVQ’s and each completed course
