Training Options Available:
The NPORS abrasive wheels training courses are designed for safety awareness when working with grinding and cutting discs. It is a ½ day training course for up to a maximum of 6 candidates. Practical cutting is a 1-day training course for up to a maximum of 6 candidates. training can take place either at your site across the UK or at one of our training centres. Course content: This course provides training for the safe use of abrasive wheels and meets with the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) and Health and Safety at work Act and HSG 17. The need to train and statutory requirements Characteristics of an abrasive wheel and the types Types of marking of abrasive wheels Speed rotation Personal protective equipment (PPE) Dressing & balancing Specific mounting procedures Hazards and precautions to be taken Storage & handling Ring testing Inspection and methods of testing for damage Abrasive wheel machine components Guarding Trained operator theory test followed by a practical test Grants Construction companies registered with the CITB levy can claim grants from the CITB for NVQ’s and each completed course
