Training Options Available:
Novice operators (wheeled or tracked) 5-days training course. Experienced operators (wheeled or tracked) 1-day assessment on site or at our training centre. Loading shovel training includes: Basic construction, names of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges. Use of the operator’s handbook. Pre-use, start, running checks and close-down procedure. Preparing the loading shovel for site and road travel. Travelling over different types of terrain and varying inclines. Manoeuvrability training, progressing to confined spaces in a forward and reverse direction in both loaded and unloaded states. Positioning and setting the machine to load. Precautions and actions for underground and overhead services and other hazards. Soil and material characteristics. Loading vehicles, dumpers and hoppers. Backfilling, grading, spreading and levelling different types of terrain. How to remove and re-attach different buckets. Placing the loading shovel in an out-of-service condition. Loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter. Trained operator theory test followed by a practical test Grants Construction companies registered with the CITB levy can claim grants from the CITB for NVQ’s and each completed course
