Training options available: Novice operators 1-day training course Experienced operators 1-day assessment on site or at our training centre Excavator as a Crane Training consists of: Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator Be able to conform to manufacturers requirements as per technical data, conform to relevant regulations and legislation Be able to locate, identify and explain safe working loads, lifting capacity chart and explain different lifting configurations and working ranges Safety aspects of weight distribution WLL, SWL and working load limit capabilities Identify and explain lifting procedures, explain what task could fall into each category Identify and explain centres of gravity, calculate estimated weights of loads Identify any overhead, proximity hazards Be able to agree the signal codes, hand signals, direction of movement, safe working, safe positioning of loads within the designated exclusion zones with the slinger signaller Ensuring that the excavator is fully certified under LOLER and in safe condition for attachments to be delivered Check the load integrity and security by carrying out trial lifts Be able to lift and transfer loads to a designated position in a safe manner under the control of the slinger signaller with minimal movement Environmental considerations Trained operator theory test followed by a practical test Grants Construction companies registered with the CITB levy can claim grants from the CITB for NVQ’s and each completed course
