Course information: This is a 1/2 day training course for all persons who may be exposed to HAVS. This can be carried out at your site across the UK or at our training centres Aims of the HAVS Training Course: To ensure that the operations when using vibrating equipment are carried out correctly and safely to minimise injury in your organisation from HAVS. Course Overview Consists of: Regular exposure to vibrations can lead to a number of debilitating conditions; the two most common being Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). Both conditions can cause numbness, weakness, pain, and if left untreated, loss of control in a person’s hands. This is why it’s so important for you to recognise the early warning signs of unsafe exposure, so that you can act before the damage becomes permanent. Both you and your employer have a responsibility to make sure that you’re safe at work. Your employer is responsible for monitoring and limiting your exposure to vibrations. It’s a legal requirement for them to provide you with the necessary information, training, and protective equipment that you need to stay safe. You have a duty to follow their safety instructions, including the proper use of any protective equipment provided. In general, this course is suited to anyone who works with vibration equipment that is likely to expose them to regular vibrations. HAVS Training Course Contents: • Introduction • The Law • Exposure values • Assessing the risks • Control exposure measures • Assessment • Legal requirements of HAVS exposure a work • Identify signs and symptoms of HAVS • Calculate exposure action values and limits The theory test is based on multiple choice questions of the training material that have been covered.
