Underground Moling Techniques Training Courses

Training duration:
  • 1-day training course for both novice and the experienced operators either at your site across the UK or at one of our training centres.
Course content:
The aim of this course is to enable candidates to review and understand the safe operating requirements when planning to use service laying and main laying soil displacement moling equipment within the utilities sector.

Objectives:
Upon completion of the underground moling techniques course participants will be able to: 
  • Understand the factors that will determine site suitability if safe to use the underground mole.
  • Checking the location of underground services prior to use.
  • Safe moling techniques.
  • Carry out the basic principles of operation.
  • Carry out pre-use maintenance checks.
  • The correct use of personal protective safety equipment worn during the operation.
  • Safe use of attachments.
  • Understand the recommended safe operating system to be employed when operating the equipment.
  • Recognise the factors preventing use.
  • End-of-use checks.
  • Trained operator theory test.

Pipe Trailer Training Courses

Training duration:
This is a 1/2 day training course for novice and experienced operators and can take place either at your site across the UK or at one of our training centres.

Pipe Trailer training includes:

  • Testing the pipe trailer before use.
  • Using the pipe trailer.
  • The disadvantages of using the trailer when it is not in the correct position.

Who does it apply to:
Anyone who will be working in the utilities sector on overhead power lines, pulling underground P.E mains through ducts and existing mains when carrying out mains replacement works. It falls under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) so therefore all operators must have adequate, certified Cable Winch training before using this equipment.

Abrasive Wheels Training Courses

Qualification:
  • NPORS
The NPORS abrasive wheels training courses are designed for safety awareness when working with grinding and cutting discs. It is a ½ day training course for up to a maximum of 6 candidates. Practical cutting is a 1-day training course for up to a maximum of 6 candidates. training can take place either at your site across the UK or at one of our training centres.

Course content:
This course provides training for the safe use of abrasive wheels and meets with the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) and Health and Safety at work Act and HSG 17.
